Google Wants To Launch Its Streaming Music Service
Google is in talks with big music labels to launch streaming music service, as reported by TheNextWeb referring to a paid account Financial Times.
Despite the significant presence in the audio world from Youtube, Google is envy with Spotify, Pandora and other streaming music services. The Internet giant is trying to get legal access to millions of songs (Spotify has over 16 million tracks). This will allow to make a planned paid subscription on Youtube real so that the users could view favorite shows and artists.
Maybe the streaming service will run on the basis of service for downloading music, which Google launched in November 2011 in the United States and five European countries. Google signed contacts with EMI, Universal, Sony Music Entertainment, and several small indie labels for this project. The number of partners in the project is about 1000 companies.
Google interest in the music industry comes through everywhere, not only Youtube, but Vevo, an active promoter of young artists. It is hardly possible to imagine that Google will give up without a fight first Spotify or Pandora streaming, broadcasting on Android-powered devices.
Biggest obstacle is the RIAA, which recently accused Google in underserved fight and almost aiding pirates. Google responded to the accusations that it had granted more than 97% of the requests from 14 million requests for removal from the SERPs resources infringing copyright. Whether these statements in dealing with major labels, especially Warner Music and Universal Music - depends on diplomacy Google.
If the idea of streaming live succeeds, we can expect from Google not only an access to the tracks with a subscription fee, but also the possibility of the appearance of free play several songs, supported by advertising. Thus, Google can actively compete with Spotify, Slacker, Pandora and other similar services.
