Google Glasses Official Specs Revealed


Google has officially published the specifications of Google Glass, its augmented reality glasses. The device is to be equipped with adjustable nose pads and the rim which allow to adapt it to any person, as the manufacturer claims. The set includes two pairs of nose pads of various sizes.


The built-in LCD display is an equivalent to a 25-inch display that is located at a distance of 2.4 m from the user. The resolution of the built-in camera is 5 megapixel, it can shoot video in 720p.

The Glasses have a bone conduction transducer that transmits acoustical vibrations to the user over the bones of the skull, and not through the eardrums.

It will support Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g and Bluetooth, also it will have 16 GB of flash memory.

The battery allows people to use the gadget for one day, but when you use the  Hangouts video chat, the battery life is greatly reduced.

The charger works by USB-connection. The Google Glasses come with Micro USB connector. The device is supplied with cable and power adapter.

Google Glass can be connected to an Android-smartphone that supports Bluetooth. It should have MyGlass application  for which Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or higheris needed. The application allows you to use GPS and SMS.

Google announced the immediate availability of the first copies of Google Glass (Google Glass Explorer Edition) to the application developers. The cost of the device is $ 1,500.

Google Glasses' exit term  to the commercial market isn't revealed. Google's co-founder Sergey Brin who is engaged in special projects of the company, hopes to bring the product to the masses in 2014.
